'GMA's' Robin Roberts home after virus battle in hospital

NEW YORK, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts says she has returned home after a week in the hospital where she was battling a virus.

Roberts, 51, is a breast cancer survivor who underwent a bone-marrow transplant to treat the rare blood disorder, myelodysplastic syndrome, in September.

"Our immune systems usually take care of a virus like this ... but mine is only 59 days old," Roberts wrote in an online post Monday about recovering from the virus after her surgery.

"Physically I felt fine but being back in the hospital took an emotional toll on me," Roberts said. "The wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff lifted my spirits. ... It was comforting seeing them again."

Roberts left the hospital last Friday night, Poeple.com said Monday.
