LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Jimmy Kimmel, who usually does his talk show in Los Angeles, says he will tape five episodes in New York, despite the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" is to be recorded in front of live audiences at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Monday through Friday.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to hit the region Monday or early Tuesday. The forecast prompted the suspension of the city's public transportation system Sunday evening.

"We are bringing in backup generators and will be able to do our show in the event of a power failure," a representative for the show said in a statement issued to EW.com Sunday. "We are also flying staff and crew out earlier to beat the storm. We have had no audience dropouts so far despite news of the storm."
