LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- NBC says it is taking its new comedy "Animal Practice" off the schedule and replacing it with its series "Whitney."

"Whitney," starring Whitney Cummings, will kick off its second season Nov. 14.

The Hollywood Reporter said "Animal Practice," led by Justin Kirk, was canceled due to low ratings. Its last episode is to air Nov. 7.
