WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- National Geographic Channel says it will air U.S. producer Harvey Weinstein's film "Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden" just before Election Day.

The Nov. 4 premiere, which marks NGC's first original broadcast of a feature film inspired by real events, will take place two days before the 2012 presidential election in which incumbent Barack Obama will go head to head with Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Starring Cam Gigandet, Anson Mount, Freddy Rodriquez, Xzibit, Kathleen Robertson, Eddie Kay Thomas, Kenneth Miller, Robert Knepper and William Fichtner, the movie is about how the CIA readied a team of seasoned U.S. Navy SEALs to attack Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan in 2011, ultimately killing the terrorist leader, after Obama green-lit the mission.

The movie will be available Nov. 5 on Netflix.

"National Geographic Channel prides itself on giving our viewers exclusive access to truly ground-breaking moments from the past, present and future," David Lyle, chief executive officer of National Geographic Channels, said in a statement Friday. "Harvey's film is a perfect match for what people expect from our network -- content that is socially relevant, factually based and entertaining as hell."

"We all know now the ultimate outcome of the president's decision to green-light the mission," said director John Stockwell. "But what was fascinating to me were all the potentially disastrous outcomes of the decision to give the go-ahead to the raid that the movie highlights. It hopefully gets inside the challenges of making a decision that could have derailed a presidency."

"I think many of us, myself included, have our own ideas of how everything unfolded that night," Weinstein said. "This portrayal of the events that took place that night is moving to say the very least. I anticipate audiences will be as captivated as I was from the beginning to the end, and I'm extremely proud as an American citizen to play a role in making sure this stunning portrayal of very recent American history is available in as many homes as possible."
