Broderick to appear on 'Modern Family'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Actor Matthew Broderick is to make a guest appearance on the upcoming season of the U.S. sitcom "Modern Family," ABC announced Friday.

The star of the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and Broadway's "The Producers" will play a neurotic new friend of Ty Burrell's character Phil, the network said.

Season 4 of the show is to begin next Wednesday.
