NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is to serve as host of next month's family program Fun and Fit in the City in New York.

Created to help educate families about healthy and simple lifestyle options, the Target-sponsored event is to take place Oct. 13 at Basketball City at Pier 36 in Manhattan. It is part of The Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE magazine.

Children and their parents will be offered healthy food samples, fitness activities and cooking demonstrations by Fieri, Rachael Ray, Sunny Anderson, Melissa d'Arabian, Giada De Laurentiis and Andrew Zimmern.

"I can't wait to have a rockin' time showin' families how to get down in the kitchen and prepare delicious, healthy meals," Fieri said in a statement. "Gettin' the whole family involved in cooking, just like I do every day at home with my wife and kids, makes for an awesome meal!"
