MONTAUK, N.Y., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- U.S.-Canadian singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright has married German theater producer Jorn Weisbrodt in a ceremony in front of 250, the New York Post reports.

Wainwright -- son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle -- exchanged vows Thursday at Wainwright's home in Montauk, N.Y., on the South Shore of Long Island.

Guests included artist-author and John Lennon widow Yoko Ono, actress Carrie Fisher, guitarist-vocalist Lou Reed, British-American actress Julianne Moore, performance artist Laurie Anderson, musician Mark Ronson, jewelry designer Ann Dexter-Jones, artist Cindy Sherman and writer-editor Ingrid Sischy, the Post said.

The party then moved to the roadside "shorts and sunglasses required" Clam Bar in Napeague, west of Montauk, where each guest received a jar of local plum jam inscribed with "Rufus+Jorn's Hochzeit."

"Hochzeit" means "wedding" in German.

They also ate local steamers and cherry tomatoes, lobster rolls and clam chowder, the Post said.

Speeches were given by 65-year-old Serbian performance artist Marina Abramovic and 98-year-old actor-comedian Irving Benson, one of the last survivors of the vaudeville era.
