LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Actors Lou Diamond Phillips and Gina Rodriguez took home top acting awards at the Imagen Foundation Awards in Los Angeles for their roles in "Filly Brown."

The 27th annual Imagen Foundation Awards ceremony was held Friday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to honor the most talented portrayals of Latinos in film, The Hollywood Reporter reported Saturday. The event was hosted by Rodriguez.

Phillips beat out Will Ferrell, who was nominated for his role in "Casa De Mi Padre," for best actor in a feature film. The winning actor rubbed his victory in, shouting out "Where you at, Will Ferrell!" during his acceptance speech, the entertainment industry newspaper reported.

Other winners included Bella Thorne for best young actress in television for her role in the Disney Channel's "Shake It Up!" and HBO Latino's "El Perro y El Gato" for best children's programming.

The film "Girl in Progress" was nominated for four awards and won two for best director for a feature film (Patricia Riggen), and best supporting actress in a feature film (Cierra Ramirez).
