LOS ANGELES, July 20 (UPI) -- HBO has confirmed new writers are being hired for the second season of Aaron Sorkin's U.S. television drama "Newsroom."

"Every year, each show reassesses the needs of its writing staffs," HBO said in a statement issued to EW.com. "This process is nothing out of the ordinary."

Exactly how many writers and who will be replacing them were not reported.

The show stars Jeff Daniels as a television news anchor trying to revive his career and Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill and Dev Patel as members of his production staff.
