NEW YORK, July 20 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is to guest star on the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation" next season, The New York Times reported Friday.

The one-time presidential candidate, as well as Sen. Barbara Boxer of California and Sen. Olympia J. Snowe of Maine, taped a cocktail party scene with the show's stars, Amy Poehler and Adam Scott, at the Hay-Adams hotel in Washington Thursday, the newspaper said.

Last season wrapped with Poehler's character Leslie being elected to the Pawnee, Ind., City Council, while Scott's character Ben, her love interest, goes to work for a congressman in Washington.
