LOS ANGELES, July 17 (UPI) -- Actor and TV personality Mark Consuelos has joined Season 2 of FX's "American Horror Story," EW.com reported.

The former "All My Children" star and current husband of "Live!" host Kelly Ripa will play a patient in an institution for the criminally insane where the new season of "Horror Story" is set, the entertainment news Web site said.

Production on the second season began this week.

The cast also includes Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Chloe Sevigny and Lizzie Brochere.
