SAN DIEGO, July 7 (UPI) -- Hasbro says its newly acquired Kre-O division will unveil its line of "Star Trek" toys at this month's Comic-Con convention in San Diego.
Kre-O will preview its "Star Trek" space ship and action figures at Comic-Con in the form of a 7-minute short feature produced by "Star Trek" director J.J. Abrams' production company, Bad Robot.
The clip was made using the USS Enterprise, which is the centerpiece of the Kre-O "Star Trek" collection along with Capt. Kirk, Bones and Spock. The set will be available in stores next year.
The Hollywood Reporter said Kre-O joined the Hasbro portfolio earlier this year and is being positioned to challenge the venerable Lego brand in the arena of building-block toys. The newspaper said Hasbro has stocked up on various licenses for "Star Trek" and other Kre-O sets, including Harry Potter, "Transformers" and DC Entertainment comic book characters.
