LOS ANGELES, June 23 (UPI) -- Mattel says it is bringing its venerable Hot Wheels toy to life with a daredevil double-loop stunt that will kick off the annual ESPN X Games in Los Angeles.
The familiar loop track will be recreated in a parking lot near Staples Center June 30 and will feature two stunt drivers who will race side by side through the six-story loop.
"It's going to be beyond exciting," Mattel spokeswoman Rachel Cooper told the Los Angeles Times. "How often do you see two cars speeding around a double loop with the G forces of fighter jets in downtown Los Angeles?"
The cars will pull about 7 Gs to be exact and will hit the loop going more than 50 miles per hour, the Times said.
The Double Loop Dare event will fire up the crowd for the X Games, which showcase adrenaline sports such as bungee jumping, street luge and rock climbing.
