MONTE CARLO, Monaco, June 19 (UPI) -- America's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" has won the International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

This is the fifth time the CBS show has earned the honor in the award's seven-year history. The prize is awarded based on statistics from Eurodata TV Worldwide for the highest ratings worldwide in 2011 across five continents, CBS said.

"CSI" star Ted Danson was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the series last week.
