LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Ryan Seacrest, host of "American Idol" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," would like to buy Dick Clark Productions, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The company, founded by the longtime television host in 1957, is now owned by Red Zone Capital, a private-equity company belonging to Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins. Clark, who died April 18 at age 82, sold his majority interest to Mosaic Media Group in 2002.

Seacrest, 37, already owns Ryan Seacrest Productions. The company produces the Kardashian shows on E! and other reality shows and plans to add scripted shows.

A judge in April ruled that Dick Clark Productions can continue to produce the Golden Globes through at least 2018. In addition to the New Year's Eve show, the company also produces the American Music Awards and "So You Think You Can Dance?"

Seacrest who has topped the Reporter's Reality Power List for two years, also contributes to NBC's "Today" and its Olympic coverage and has a nationally syndicated radio show.
