NEW YORK, June 11 (UPI) -- Current TV said Monday its new hourlong nightly program "The Joy Behar Show" will premiere on the U.S. cable network this September.

"Joy Behar is a beloved veteran television personality with her finger on the pulse of what viewers care about," Current TV Chairman and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore said in a statement. "Millions of Americans tune in daily to hear her take on the issues along with her inimitable style. We are honored that Current TV will be Joy's new prime-time home."

Behar is an award-winning talk-show host, comedian, writer and actress. She has been a co-host of "The View" since 1997.

Her new show will air Monday through Thursday nights.
