LOS ANGELES, May 30 (UPI) -- Actor Tim Daly said via Twitter his character Pete Wilder won't be on next season of the U.S. medical drama, "Private Practice."

"Shonda [Rhimes] informed my agent today that Pete wont be returning for season 6. It was a great 5 yrs. R.I.P. Pete Wilder," Daly tweeted late Tuesday.

No further explanation was given for the decision.

Starring Kate Walsh, the show is a spinoff of Shonda Rhimes' flagship doctor drama "Grey's Anatomy."
