LOS ANGELES, May 25 (UPI) -- The 1904-built mansion in which the first season of the ghost drama "American Horror Story" was set is up for sale with a price-tag of $12 million.

The Los Angeles house will be featured on Tuesday's edition of Syfy's entertainment memorabilia show "Hollywood Treasure," which stars Joseph Maddalena and his staff at the auction house Profiles in History.

Maddalena is helping market the "American Horror Story" property with Brad Downs of Rodeo Realty Inc. in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"'American Horror Story' developed a tremendous cult following during its premiere season and the whole series was centered around the house which is now going on the market. The house became as much a character as any of the people were and is as equally impressive in real life as it was on the show," Profiles in History said in a news release Friday.

The auction house did not say who the most recent owner was.

The pilot for "American Horror Story" was shot in the house, then a replica was built in a television studio where the rest of the episodes were taped.
