HBO orders 2nd seasons of 'Veep,' 'Girls'

LOS ANGELES, April 30 (UPI) -- HBO has ordered second seasons of its new comedies "Girls" and "Veep," The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

Both series, which premiered this month on the pay cable network to good reviews and healthy ratings, will return next year with 10-episode seasons, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

"Girls" stars a cast of newcomers and is about young women navigating romance and careers in New York City.

In "Veep," Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays the vice president of the United States, struggling to find ways to make a difference.
