LAS VEGAS, April 1 (UPI) -- Latin rapper Pitbull took top honors at the 19th annual BMI Latin Music Awards in Las Vegas winning both songwriter of the year and the President's Award.

The BMI President's Award was given to the artist, born Armando Christian Perez, in "recognition of his profound influence on the entire entertainment industry," a BMI release said Saturday.

Past recipients include Taylor Swift, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, and Willie Nelson.

Pitbull also shared the BMI Latin Songwriter of the Year award with Juan Luis Morena Luna "Wisin," Llandel Veguilla Malave, "Yandel" and Espinoza Paz.

"Nina De Mi Corazon" earned BMI Latin Song of the Year for songwriter Horacio Palencia and Ferca Global Publishing.

"Nina De Mi Corazon" was recorded by La Arrolladora Banda El Limon.

The awards at the Encore in Las Vegas were hosted by BMI President Del Bryant and Delia Orjuela, BMI Vice President, Latin Music.
