LOS ANGELES, April 1 (UPI) -- U.S. first lady Michelle Obama presented singer Taylor Swift with the Big Help Award at the 25th Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards show.
The first lady presented the award Saturday night to Grammy-winner Swift in recognition of her extensive philanthropic endeavors, including her work with tornado and flood survivors in the United States, Nickelodeon said.
"I'm here because I have always felt an obligation to give back; to lift up others the way that my parents, my teachers and mentors lifted me," Mrs. Obama said. "And that's something that our next honoree believes too.
"And it's not just something she talks about, it's how she lives her life," she said of Swift.
Hosted by Will Smith, the awards were broadcast from Los Angeles where kids' top choices in television, movies, music and sports were revealed, tabulated from more than 220 million online votes by children and their families between March 1 and March 31 in 20 categories, Nickelodeon said.
Among the winners were Katy Perry, Tim Tebow, Taylor Lautner, Big Time Rush, Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart, LMFAO and Justin Bieber.
Awards went to Adam Sandler for Favorite Movie Actor; Kristen Stewart for Favorite Movie Actress; Alvin and the Chipmunks: "Chipwrecked" for Favorite Movie and "Puss in Boots" for Favorite Animated Movie.
