LOS ANGELES, March 28 (UPI) -- Emmy Award-winning actor Bryan Cranston has directed an episode of the U.S sitcom "Modern Family," ABC said Wednesday.

The installment, featuring guest star Philip Baker Hall, will air April 11. It centers on character Claire Dunphy's campaign for a seat on the town council.

"The all-important election day has arrived and the whole family rallies for some last minute campaigning -- Mitch and Cam ride around in a 'Vote for Claire' mobile, the Dunphy house is campaign central with everyone manning phones and soliciting votes, and Claire does some last-minute interviews -- with a few technical difficulties," a synopsis said.

"Modern Family" stars Julie Bowen as Claire, Ty Burrell as Phil, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell and Eric Stonestreet as Cameron.

Cranston is best known for his acting roles in TV's "Breaking Bad" and "Malcolm in the Middle." He has also directed several episodes of both shows.
