NEW YORK, March 14 (UPI) -- Comedy Central says it will begin airing reruns of the college-themed U.S. sitcom "Community" in 2013.

The cable network reached a multiyear deal with Sony Picture Television to license the series, it was announced Wednesday by David Bernath, Comedy Central's executive vice president of program strategy and multiplatform programming.

"Within the chaos of the current media landscape we are fortunate that we live in a timeline where 'Community' comes to Comedy Central," Bernath said in a statement. "Our staff is celebrating with a game of paintball in the offices today."

Currently in its third season on NBC, "Community" stars Joel McHale as a fast-talking attorney whose degree has been revoked and who now attends Greendale Community College sitting at the center of a study group comprised of a band of misfits.

The cast also includes Chevy Chase, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong.
