NEW YORK, March 5 (UPI) -- "Star Trek" icon George Takei was fired on the business-themed competition series "Celebrity Apprentice" in New York.

"Apprentice" judge and executive producer Donald Trump fired male team leader Takei Sunday night after his group lost this week's challenge -- creating living window displays at Lord & Taylor to promote Trump's daughter Ivanka's clothing line, E! News said.

The women's team project manager was former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza.

Also competing on the reality show are radio host Adam Carolla, one-time "Incredible Hulk" star Lou Ferrigno, magician/comedian Penn Jillette, IndyCar star Michael Andretti, "American Chopper" star Paul Teutul, Sr., pop star Debbie Gibson, actress and singer Tia Carrere, comedienne Lisa Lampanelli, singer and actress Aubrey O'Day, actress and model Patricia Velasquez and "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice.

Model Cheryl Tiegs and author Victoria Gotti were fired earlier in the season.
