LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. cable company Comcast says it will distribute networks being started up by Magic Johnson, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Robert Rodriguez.

NBA great Magic Johnson's Aspire network is to debut this summer and will offer "enlightening, entertaining and positive programming to African-American families," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs' Revolt is to start airing music-oriented programs next year and will have a strong social media presence.

Film director Robert Rodriguez's El Rey will be an English-language general entertainment network targeted at Latino audiences and set to premiere in 2014.

The entertainment industry trade newspaper said the minority-backed networks are part of a plan Comcast outlined during its campaign to win government approval for its controlling stake in NBC Universal.
