NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Tapings of the mock political program "The Colbert Report" were to resume in New York after a brief hiatus, show sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

Comedy Central announced the tapings set for Feb. 15-16 had been abruptly canceled, but the cable network did not explain why, stating only it was due to "unforeseen circumstances."

The tapings were to resume Monday.

As media reports circulated saying Stephen Colbert took a break because of his 91-year-old mother's failing health, he took to Twitter to thank his fans, on behalf of his family, for their support.
