LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles radio station has suspended right-wing talk show hosts John and Ken for "insensitive" comments on Whitney Houston's drug use.

The suspension for John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou took effect Thursday and will keep them off the air until Feb. 27, KFI-AM said in a statement. The station called the comments "insensitive and inappropriate" and said it "does not condone, support or tolerate statements of this kind."

The pair called Houston a "crack ho" before her death was announced Saturday, the Los Angeles Times reported. The Urban Informer Web site said that after her death they said she had been "cracked out for 20 years" and suggested surprise that she had not died earlier.

While Houston had a history of drug problems and prescription drugs were found in her hotel suite, officials have yet to determine a cause of death.

"We made a mistake, and we accept the station's decision," Kobylt said. "We used language that was inappropriate, and we sincerely apologize to our listeners and to the family of Ms. Houston."

The Grammy-winning singer died Saturday at age 48 in Beverly Hills, Calif.
