LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- British actor Jonny Lee Miller is to play a modern-day version of fictional sleuth Sherlock Holmes in a new CBS drama, Deadline.com reported.

Miller is best known for his work on TV's "Dexter" and "Eli Stone." He earned rave reviews last year for his performance in Danny Boyle's stage adaptation of "Frankenstein" in London opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Holmes in the BBC series "Sherlock," which is set in contemporary London.

Miller's Holmes will solve crimes in New York City, Deadline.com said.

The two series are based on stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
