LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- U.S. cable network HBO says it has renewed "Luck" for a 10-episode second season two days after the horse-racing drama debuted.
Variety said the pilot episode starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte was seen by 3.3 million viewers.
"We couldn't be more thrilled with the critical response to this beautiful piece of work, and we are very excited about where David [Milch] and Michael [Mann] plan to take these incredible characters," the entertainment industry trade newspaper quoted HBO programming president Michael Lombardo as saying Tuesday.
Production on Season 2 is to start in a few weeks. The sophomore season is to begin airing in early 2013, Variety said.
