LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- "Modern Family" won the prize for Best Comedy Series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night.

"I think it was the late, great W.C. Fields who said, 'Never work with kids or animals.' Well, he can kiss my ---," the sitcom's 13-year-old cast member Nolan Gould started to say before his adult co-stars playfully yanked him away from the podium.

"On behalf of the entire cast and crew, the writers and producers and all the great guest cast we had on our show this year, we just want to thank you for letting us be a part of all your families," continued 13-year-old Rico Rodriguez, another member of the ensemble.

Alec Baldwin took home the statuette for Actor in a Comedy Series.

"Oh, my God!" the "30 Rock" star squealed as he snagged his prize. "I just want to say the only thing this means to me is, obviously, you people love Tina Fey's writing and you love Robert Carlock's writing. I want to have a big round of applause because, in television, it's not going to work unless you have great writing, and no offense to anyone else here, but we have the greatest writing. We have the greatest writers."

Betty White received the SAG award for Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on "Hot in Cleveland."

"I don't think they can read. I think they made a terrible mistake," White joked about TV stars Kyle Chandler and Regina King, who presented her with the award.

White said she intends to share her award with her "Cleveland" cast members Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli and Jane Leeves.

"I'm not going to let them keep this, but I'll let them see it," she added.
