MILWAUKEE, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The Pabst Brewing Co. says ads for its Old Milwaukee lager, featuring actor-comedian Will Ferrell, are real.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said some people have been questioning whether the low-budget TV commercials airing in the Quad Cities area since late last month were created by Ferrell's comedy Web site FunnyorDie.com.

But the beermaker said the series of TV spots are legitimate.

"In the case of Old Milwaukee, Will Ferrell was a big fan of the brand," Daren Metropoulos, Pabst's co-owner, told the Journal Sentinel in an e-mail. "My brother Evan and I have many relationships with celebrities and artists and this is how we put these deals together."
