LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Ewan McGregor has signed on to star in the pilot for a possible series based on Jonathan Franzen's novel "The Corrections," The Hollywood Reporter said.

The Scottish actor is best known for his work in the "Star Wars" film franchise, as well as in the movies "Trainspotting," "Moulin Rouge," "Big Fish," "Angels & Demons" and "The Ghost Writer."

The Reporter said writer-director Noah Baumbach and producer Scott Rudin are adapting "Corrections" for the small screen. Also starring in the pilot, which is already in production, are Dianne Wiest and Chris Cooper.

The book is about an aging couple who bring their three adult children home for one last Christmas.
