Work halting on 'Prime Suspect' set

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- The New York-set police drama "Prime Suspect" is not expected survive beyond the episodes being taped this month, The Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.

Starring Maria Bello, Aidan Quinn and Brian F. O'Byrne, the remake of the British series of the same name debuted on NBC in September.

The Hollywood Reporter said low ratings are to blame for the show's demise.

NBC is expected to air the 13 episodes it ordered, but once the last of those installments is taped, the network will shut the show down, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

A new drama series based on John Grisham's legal thriller novel "The Firm" is to replace "Prime Suspect" Thursdays at 10 p.m. starting Jan. 12.
