'Anderson' renewed for second season

NEW YORK, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- CNN newsman Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show "Anderson" has been picked up for a second season by Fox, the show's producers said.

The 1-hour show has received decent ratings in its debut year and Warner Bros. said that was enough to bring it back for at least the 2012-2013 season, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Anderson brings a distinctive point of view, a real sense of empathy and the journalistic skills to tackle and elevate the diverse range of topics that the daytime audience is interested in," said Hilary Estey McLoughlin, president of Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros. "As our awareness grows and the audience finds the show, the bond will only grow stronger with him over time."

THR said "Anderson" may be getting some help from a change of New York City affiliates. The show will be shifting from WPIX-TV to WNYW, which The Reporter said would be a better fit than WPIX's more confrontational talk shows.
