NEW YORK, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Katie Holmes says dressing a turkey for her film "Pieces of April" has permanently turned her off of the task in real life. Holmes recalled how disgusted she was by the experience when she taped an episode of "The Martha Stewart Show." The appearance is to air Tuesday.

"I had to pull everything out," she said, referring to how she removed the bag with the neck and giblets from the bird for the film.
"I had to call my mom and say, 'Thank you for all the Thanksgivings and I'm never going to make one,'" Holmes told Stewart.
The talk-show host and holiday expert then asked the actress if she ever plucked the feathers out of a turkey, to which Holmes replied, "No."
"Oh, that's horrible. That's what I thought you were talking about. … Oh, just taking the little bag of stuff out?" Stewart teased Holmes.
Holmes then laughed and said: "Oh no. … You think I'm a wimp."
The actress said she, her husband, actor Tom Cruise, and their daughter, Suri, plan to be in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving.
"I'm not a big cook, so I usually go to the flower mart in downtown Los Angeles and I make up for my lack of cooking with a good presentation," she said, adding her family will, indeed, be eating turkey on the day.
"I make sure the fixings are there. I just don't tell how they got there," she said.
Holmes can now be seen in the big-screen comedy "Jack & Jill."
