LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Fox says it has ordered a second season of its U.S. singing competition series "The X Factor."

"I am absolutely thrilled with the news," The Hollywood Reporter quoted judge and producer Simon Cowell as saying Wednesday. "I have loved making the show and I want to thank Fox, our sponsors and most importantly the fans for supporting 'The X Factor.'"

Episodes of "The X Factor" average about 13 million viewers, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

Also serving on the judges' panel are L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Steve Jones is the show's host.
