LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- FX says it has ordered 10 episodes of Charlie Sheen's new comedy "Anger Management" from Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury.

The show, loosely based on the 2003 film by the same name produced by Joe Roth's Revolution Studios, will be written and executive produced by comedy writer Bruce Helford.

"We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie's acting talents -- and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play," John Landgraf, president and general manager of FX said Thursday in a statement. "'Two and a Half Men' has been an outstanding component of FX's schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that 'Anger Management' will soon be as well."

Roth -- who has worked with Sheen on films such as "Major League," 'Young Guns" and "The Three Musketeers" -- said he's happy to be working with the actor again.

"Now to have Charlie, the number one comedy star on TV, doing 'Anger Management,' feels like a perfect fit," he said. "And I could not be happier than being back at Fox with John Landgraf and Chuck Saftler."
