LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Scottish actress Rose Leslie is to play Ygritte on Season 2 of HBO's medieval epic "Game of Thrones," EW.com reported.

Leslie is best known for her work on the British television series "Downton Abbey."

Her "Thrones" character is described as "strong-willed, witty, skilled in battle and survival in the wilderness. An unconventional beauty, skinny but strong with red hair (which the Wildlings consider 'kissed by fire,')" EW.com said.

"Game of Thrones" is scheduled to start airing its 10-episode sophomore season next spring.
