Oprah makes surprise appearance on 'Rosie' premiere

CHICAGO, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- The first taping of "The Rosie Show" began with a monologue by the U.S. talk show's host, Rosie O'Donnell, and ended with a visit from producer Oprah Winfrey.

"Rosie" debuted Monday night on Winfrey's OWN network.

"I think this show has been fun, but we're missing one thing, one thing," the New York Daily News quoted O'Donnell as telling her audience before Winfrey took the stage, smiled and hugged O'Donnell as the closing credits rolled.

The first live broadcast of "The Rosie Show," which took place at the Harpo studio in Chicago where "The Oprah Winfrey Show" taped for 25 years, also featured a question-and-answer session between O'Donnell and the audience, as well as an interview with British comedian and actor Russell Brand, the Daily News said.
