BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- KISS rocker Gene Simmons has formally married longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed in Beverly Hills, Calif., his publicist confirmed.

Simmons and Tweed tied the knot at an outdoor ceremony that included Simmons' KISS bandmate Paul Stanley and the couple's 19-year-old daughter Sophie in the wedding party.

Simmons, 62, and Tweed, 54, have been a couple for 28 years. They exchanged vows they wrote themselves and were cheered by their 400 guests when they said their official "I dos," People reported Sunday.

Along with being the fire-breathing bass player for KISS, Simmons has been the frontman for the A&E reality television series "Gene Simmons Family Jewels."

Simmons proposed during the show's season finale and CNN reported the wedding will be the focus of a series of episodes beginning Tuesday.
