'Mildred Pierce,' 'Downton Abbey' win multiple Emmys

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- "Mad Men" was named Outstanding Drama Series for a fourth consecutive year at the Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles.

The 1960s New York-set advertising drama was shut out of all the other major categories Sunday night, however.

The early 20th century British drama "Downton Abbey" was a big winner, earning the prize for Outstanding TV Movie or Miniseries, as well as the awards for Writing and Directing for a TV Movie or Miniseries, and Supporting Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for Maggie Smith.

Barry Pepper won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for "The Kennedys."

"Mildred Pierce" co-stars Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce won the Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress and Supporting Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries.

Kyle Chandler took home the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series trophy for "Friday Night Lights" and Julianna Margulies won the Lead Actress statuette for "The Good Wife."

Margo Martindale earned the honor for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "Justified" and Peter Dinklage the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for "Game of Thrones."
