CLEVELAND, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Matthew Fox was detained by Cleveland police after a female driver accused the actor of punching her as she tried to stop him from boarding a private party bus.

Fox, 45, is best known for his work on TV's "Party of Five" and "Lost." He is in Cleveland working on the film "I, Alex Cross."

The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer said Heather Bormann, 24, alleges he punched her in the chest and stomach when she attempted to keep him off of the chartered vehicle she was piloting.

Bormann told police Fox approached the bus outside the Silk Nightclub and asked to be taken to his hotel, then became belligerent when she told him "no."

"He just kept staring at me with his mouth wide open and not saying anything," TMZ quoted Bormann as saying. "I told him: 'You have to leave, buddy. You are trespassing on my bus.'"

The driver also told the Web site Fox "leaned in and started punching my crotch and breast."

The Plain Dealer said Bormann told police the actor punched her in the chest and stomach, and she "swung back and punched [him] in the mouth, causing a cut on his lip."

Fox was released by police to a friend who took him by taxi to his hotel, the newspaper said.

No charges were immediately filed and officers advised Bormann to make a formal complaint to city prosecutors, the report said.
