McCormack begins work on new TV drama

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. cable network TNT announced production began this week on "Perception," its new drama series starring Eric McCormack.

TNT said it has ordered 10 episodes of the series in which McCormack plays Dr. Daniel Pierce, an eccentric neuroscientist who helps solve complex criminal cases.

Rachael Leigh Cook plays FBI agent Kate Moretti; Arjay Smith plays Max Lewicki, the teaching assistant whose primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task; and Kelly Rowan plays Natalie Vincent, Pierce's best friend and every bit his intellectual equal, TNT said in a synopsis.

The show is expected to join the network's lineup in summer 2012.

McCormack is best known for his work on the TV sitcom "Will & Grace."
