LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Comedian George Lopez joked about the demise of "Lopez Tonight" on the penultimate episode of his Los Angeles-based TBS chat show.
The series was canceled this week after two seasons due to low ratings. Thursday's installment is to be its last.
"I'm taking it good, but my goddesses are a wreck … they left me," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Lopez as saying Wednesday, comparing himself to the recently fired actor Charlie Sheen. "And I'm losing teeth."
Sheen was fired this year from the sitcom "Two and a Half Men" after eight seasons because of his erratic behavior and substance abuse, as well as for disparaging remarks he made about series creator Chuck Lorre. Following his ouster, Sheen gave numerous incoherent, yet highly quotable interviews in which he proclaimed his then girlfriends "goddesses."
"In case you did not see the news on unemployment, it's at an all-time high and for Latinos, it just got a little higher," Lopez added on Wednesday night's show. "We're not saying goodbye, we're just saying cable doesn't work."
