LOS ANGELES, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. author Michael Connelly is writing a script for a small-screen version of his blockbuster novel "The Lincoln Lawyer," Variety reported Tuesday.

The book was the basis of a hit spring movie starring Matthew McConaughey as Michael "Mickey" Haller, the titular criminal defense attorney who conducts business from the back of a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Town Car.

The screenwriter of the film, John Romano, is working with Connelly on a pilot script for ABC, Variety said.
