LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- John O'Hurley is to play a recurring role on the U.S. daytime drama "All My Children" this fall, ABC announced Wednesday.

The former "Seinfeld" cast member and "Dancing with the Stars" contender will play Kit Sterling, a producer who approaches Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci, to make a movie based on a book she has written. O'Hurley's first episode on "All My Children" is scheduled to air Sept. 12.

In addition to his work in prime-time television, O'Hurley has also played good and evil twins Keith Lane and Jonathan Matalaine on "Loving" and character Greg Bennett on "General Hospital."

ABC recently announced the long-running soap opera will continue airing on the Internet after it wraps up its broadcast run this fall.
