LOS ANGELES, July 26 (UPI) -- U.S. reality television stars Jesse James and Kat Von D have split up.

"I'm so sad because I really love her," James told People.com exclusively. "The distance between us was just too much."

James has a home in Texas and Von D lives in Los Angeles.

"I am no longer w Jesse," Von D confirmed via Twitter, "and out of respect for him, his family and myself, thats all the info I'd like to share. Thanks for respecting that."

The pair were planning to celebrate the one-year anniversary of when they started dating by getting married this summer.

James' marriage to actress Sandra Bullock famously crumbled in 2010 after he admitted having numerous extramarital affairs just weeks after the actress won an Oscar for her performance in "The Blind Side."
