VH1 orders Season 2 of 'Single Ladies'

LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- U.S. cable network VH1 says it has green-lit a second season of the scripted drama/comedy series "Single Ladies."

Set in Atlanta, the show is the network's first hourlong scripted series. It stars Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea.

The second season is expected to begin filming this year. It is slated for premiere in 2012.

"Our viewers have fallen for 'Single Ladies' and its honest, modern take on love, female friendship and dating," Jeff Olde, VH1's executive vice president of original programming and production. "We're extremely pleased to give the audience another great season of the series they love."

"My partner Shakim [Compere] and I are so excited that 'Single Ladies' has been received so well," Flavor Unit Entertainment Executive Producer Queen Latifah said. "We knew from the beginning this show was going to appeal to people everywhere; it's funny, sexy and smart. We are so happy that we were able to join with VH1 to find such a great home for this incredible show."
