Lachman joins 'Being Human' ensemble

NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Actress Dichen Lachman has signed up for a role in the supernatural drama series "Being Human," the U.S. cable network Syfy said Thursday.

Lachman is to portray Izumi, "a reclusive, centuries-old vampire royal whose unexpected return to Boston's vampire society throws main character Aidan [played by Sam Witwer] and the city into disarray," Syfy said in press materials.

Co-starring Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington, "Being Human" is to begin production on its second season this month in Montreal. It will begin airing in 2012.

Lachman previously co-starred as Sierra on Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse," and has guest starred on "Hawaii Five-0," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and the upcoming season of "Torchwood."
