LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) -- ABC says it has set a September date for airing the last episode of its long-running U.S. soap opera "All My Children."

The network announced this year it hadn't renewed the 41-year-old daytime drama for another season.

The last installment of the saga is set for broadcast Sept. 23.

"The iconic series will end in a manner that respects the show's legacy and honors its history," ABC said in a news release Thursday. "Out of love and respect for the show, many beloved actors will be returning to Pine Valley, including Josh Duhamel, Eva La Rue, Thorsten Kay, Carol Burnett, Kate Collins, Jennifer Bassey, Melissa Claire Egan and Leven Rambin, among others yet to be announced. Final episodes will celebrate the stories of the families that fans have grown to know and love over the years."
